The theatre was constructed by Perini Building Company, with the project beginning in December 2001 and was completed on February 4, 2003 (six weeks before its estimated completion date), opening on March 25, 2003.

The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is a contemporary interpretation of one of antiquity's architectural wonders. Built at a cost of $95 million, The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is a striking landmark at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. With seating for up to 4,300, The Colosseum is designed to accommodate stage shows of all varieties while providing audiences with an extraordinary entertainment experience.
The Colosseum at Caesars Palace was recognized as Billboard magazine's ëVenue of the Decade: 2000-2009 in the category of venues with a capacity of 5,000 or less. The award was ranked by gross sales compiled from box office scores from December 1999 through November 2009.
Home to the greatest entertainers in the world, The Colosseum has currently hosted Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, Elton John and starting in December 2012-2014, Shania Twain. The Colosseum has also been home to Bette Midler, Cher, Jeff Dunham, Jerry Seinfeld, Luis Miguel and Stevie Nicks.
